Unicorn Horn
"My horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn; I shall be anointed with fresh oil." Psalm 92:10 is a profound message about the empowerment and strength available to us through our relationship with God. By ‘exalting our horns’ (symbols of strength), like that of a wild ox, and pouring the fresh anointing oil on us (oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit), God reassures us of His great strength, blessing, and anointing in our lives. God empowers us in our weaknesses, enabling us to overcome life’s challenges which may seem insurmountable!
First, Psalm 92:10 uses the picture of the wild ox - known for its formidable presence and great strength. God promises to exalt us above our situation as we draw strength from His presence! Paul said, "When I am weak, then I am strong." Paul was facing difficult trials but he does not fear; God lifts him up and makes him spiritually strong. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9. God fills us and replaces our natural weakness with His mighty power!
Second, David was anointed by the fresh oil of the Spirit; he goes into battle with Goliath and wins! He is stronger than the strong man. David knew the secret of staying in tune with God’s Spirit through prayer and enjoying God’s presence. When we keep connected to God, we stay fresh and do not grow stagnant. David said, "You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows" - with fresh oil! Isaiah said, "As you wait upon the Lord, you renew your strength - you soar on eagle’s wings!"
